Dunbia has scooped a second prestigious Institute of Directors award this year with Alan McKeown, the Group’s Supply Chain Director, picking up the Northern Ireland IoD Young Director of the Year Award.

Alan’s award follows Group Chief Executive Jim Dobson’s recent success in the National IoD awards at which Jim won the UK Large Company Director of the Year award.

Alan joined Dunbia in 2004 and in the 10 years since he joined the company, his impact has been one of continuous development. He was appointed to the board at the age of just 34 and he is the youngest member of an ambitious management team that have driven growth and expansion of the Group in the UK and Ireland, making the company the largest locally owned private business in the province.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Alan said: “I am delighted to be named IoD Northern Ireland’s Young Director of the Year. Competition for the award was very strong and I am pleased that my career with Dunbia has given me the experience needed to win.  Dunbia is a fantastic company to work for, with constant opportunities to develop in many different aspects of the business. I think that is one of the benefits of working for a locally owned and managed company”.

The IoD judges said they were particularly impressed with the impact Alan’s role has made on the business, and the enthusiasm and passion he shows about the company he works for.

Congratulating Alan, Jim Dobson said: “I am delighted to see Alan win the IoD Young Director of the Year Award, which recognises his ambition, drive and commitment to the ongoing success of Dunbia. We have an extremely strong management team and we are committed to encouraging and enabling staff to progress their career within the company.  While Alan’s award is an individual achievement, Dunbia takes great pride in it.”

Dunbia ranks 78th in the Sunday Times Top Track 100 list of UK companies. Headquartered in Dungannon and owned by brothers Jack and Jim Dobson, the group are a major supplier of fresh beef, lamb and pork products to many of the UK retailers and employ over 4,000 people across 13 manufacturing sites. The Company has had a recent strong run of industry awards, including Meat Management UK Manufacturer of the year in 2014.
