Ingredients and General Packaging Buyer

Stores and Purchasing

Responsible for the purchasing, stock control and administration of Ingredients and General Packaging in line with Customer requirements.  Working closely with the Key Stakeholders to ensure accurate stock counts are carried out and managing associated data required in order to meet Business requirements.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Using relevant data to purchase required levels of ingredient and general packaging, considering Production Plans, Lead Times, Storage Options and Use by dates
  • Participating in scheduled & ad-hoc physical stock control audits
  • Developing strong partnerships with suppliers
  • Ensuring ingredients, products and suppliers meet required specifications.
  • Ensuring the Company’s Purchase Order procedure is adhered to, negotiating ‘best prices’
  • Liaising with relevant departments to ensure that any issues arising are resolved  effectively
  • Carrying out necessary project work as required
  • Supporting the Stores & Purchasing Team with other tasks when required

 

THE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• 2/3 years procurement experience within the Food industry or equivalent

• Experience of buying food ingredients (e.g. seasonings, sauces, marinades, cereals etc)

• Proven negotiation skills. Preferred but not essential

• Excellent communication skills and confidence to build effective relationships at all levels

• Computer literate with a very good understanding of Excel

• Good customer facing skills with a strong commercial awareness

• Able to work both as an individual and as a part of a team 

• Good interpersonal skills

• Able to enjoy working within a fast-moving environment with changes and high expectations
